What is FTP?

FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol. As the name suggests, FTP is used to transfer files between computers on a network, such as the Internet. You can use FTP to exchange files between computer accounts, to transfer files between an account and a desktop computer, or to access software archives on the Internet.

Where can I download a free FTP program?

One free FTP program is WS FTP which can be downloaded from here. You can also download Filezilla, which is free for personal, educational, and non-profit use.

What is domain parking?

Domain parking is where one or more than one domain names are registered with the domain name servers, pointing to the same space. This means that you hit the same website whichever name you use. For example getagriptyreservices.com and getagriptyreservices.co.uk point to the same web space.

What is a subdomain?

Sub domain URLs look like help.techcosupport.com or adwords.google.com. They are recognisable as belonging to the parent domain, but the sub domain can point to a different folder, or even a different server.

What is an addon domain?

Addon domains are available is some hosting packages, and they allow you to host further domains under your main domain. The new domain is a fully functional domain that can be created from your Control Panel. Once it’s created it will have it’s own email, and it’s own folder from within the public_html directory. Addon domain URLs look like www.techcosys.com or tcslhosting.com
